On Sunday 3rd November 2019, we held our very first children’s brainstorming workshop at Shree Radha Krishna Mandir.
The aim of the workshop was to give the children an opportunity to tell us and share with us their views on:
1. What will encourage them to come to mandir.
2. How we can involve them.
3. What activities will make it fun for them learn and participate in the mandir functions and activities.
The workshop was attended by over 10 children of varying ages from 3 to 16 years. Mrs Sushila Wingham (who is trained to work with children and help them develop) kindly agreed to lead the workshop and on the day did a wonderful job of keeping the children focused and ensuring they were having fun.
Mrs Wingham opened the workshop and welcomed the children and explained what we wanted to achieve with their help. Initial ideas from the children were noted on a board and the children were split into 2 groups lead by team leaders to brainstorm.
At the end of the brainstorming session, one child from each group presented their group’s ideas. The ideas were then grouped together and next steps presented by Mrs Wingham and the workshop closed. During the workshop snacks and soft drinks were provided to the children.
We are hoping to organise further workshops in 2020 with the children to take forward their wonderful ideas.
We would like to thank Mrs Sushila Wingham for taking the time to come and work with us and look forward to working with her going forward. We would also like to thank all the children who attended as they put a lot of energy into the workshop and provided wonderful ideas.
