First ever Diwali dinner, organised at Gandhi Hall via Hindu Religious Society, was held on Saturday, 3rd November. A sold out event meant that we had a our hands full but the evening went on without any hitch. It was a sit-down 4 course meal with Entertainment and Fireworks. The hall was decorated in Diwali theme. Our centre piece of Ganesh ji and Swastika was much appreciated, everyone was vying to take a photo with it. It was a relaxed atmosphere where guests were mingling and catching up with one another. Soft music was playing in the background. Once Starters have finished, we invited guests to the front of the Temple where they were treated to a fine display of fireworks. The guests sit down for main meal and were entertained to a short comedy act followed by 80ies Bollywood music. The guests had to identify the song, actor and actress. It was a good laugh. One of our guests, Azeez Anasudhin Editor Asian lite, was requested to hand out raffle prizes towards the end of the evening. It was a good fun filled night in all aspects.
The evening was immensely enjoyed by our guests and majority of them had already put their name down for the next year’s Diwali dinner. We were overwhelmed with the positive response from our guests, which is very encouraging. We are looking forward for your suggestions on what other events you would like us to organise. Wishing you all a very Happy Diwali.
