Charity Support by Hindu Religious Society
In current Covide-19 situation, it is very heartening to see everyone doing their part to reach out to and offer help, support, charity. Hindu Religious Society too is actively collaborating with other charities to provide support, especially to our medical front line workers. Our president Mrs Indu Seth, her husband Mr Panna Seth and her grand kids, Malvika Arora and Laaksh Arora, cooked, packed and liaised with SEWA UK to deliver hot packed food to frontline workers at Wythenshaw hospital. 107 packs of hot meal were delivered on Tuesday, 26th May and 110 packs on Thursday, 28th May 2020. Providing hot meals to NHS is one of the few initiative undertaken by our committee.
Virtual Arti and Kirtan
We are conscious that our devotees are missing visiting the mandir. As there are still no clear guidelines on re-opening of religious places by the government, our Shastri ji is posting videos about religious events on Facebook that we missed like Hanuman Jayanti. Not stopping at just posting videos, Shastri ji is now regularly live streaming Arti at 6pm every Tuesday and Sunday on Facebook. This way, our devotees can do virtual darshan of the idols and deities. He is also holding kirtan via Zoom every Sunday at 12pm. Please contact Shastri ji directly for more information about Sunday Kirtan. We feel so proud that senior citizen devotees are actively learning and embracing virtual media like Zoom, Facebook to stay connected to our Mandir and other religious institutions.
We are constantly looking at ways of how we can contribute in the current, fast changing scenario. We understand and appreciate some of you are already, in a personal capacity, doing something to support/carry out charity. There may be some of you, who want to get involved but are not sure how and what they can do to help. We are in the process of setting up our Mandir’s donation page and will share the details with you as soon as possible. I hope you will all support us in our endeavours.
We are regularly listening to government updates and guidelines on when and how to open our Mandir. The new normal will be very different to pre Covide-19 situation. We may have to consider reduced Mandir opening time and limit the number of devotees allowed at any given time. We will inform you of the details nearer the time via Email, Website and Facebook. I will request our devotees to kindly adhere to any guidelines issues by Executive Committee on attending the Mandir to support us in keeping everybody safe.
